Stride

Stride is a carefully structured in-service training programme, designed to help you develop your faith and explore God's calling in Latin America.

Why Latin Link?StridePlacements (20K)

To help you make the most of your time on Stride, we include:

• a ten-day preparation and orientation course before you go
• local orientation and language study when you arrive
• ongoing pastoral support and guidance from the Latin Link team in your host     country
• a personal mentor
• full debriefing on your return

Tailored to your specific gifts and abilities, your placement will allow you to use your skills working in a nationally-run project, responding to local needs.

Placements can last for anything between six months and two years. You can start your placement any time after our main orientation programme in September or our shortened course in January. The deadline for applications is 1st March for a September departure, or 1st August for a January departure. The main selection days are held in our office in Reading, but for applicants in Scotland and Ireland, interviews can be held with our local area coordinators.

All placements are self-funded. To cover the necessary start up costs, to prepare you and get you to Latin America, each Strider will need to raise approximately £1,700. In addition to this, you will need to budget a maximum of £450 per month for on-going living expenses (to cover food, accommodation etc). Any language training needed will be at an additional cost. We are happy to advise you on funding and will talk to you about raising support at your selection day. Don't be daunted! Every year people are amazed by how much they raise once they get started.

Minimum age 18. Maximum age: none!

Latin Link works in partnership with the Toybox charity to provide opportunities for applicants who want to work with children at risk in Latin America. We aim, where possible, to place applicants with Toybox-supported projects, or similar.

UCCF Relay Homestart offers graduates a year of discipleship, theology and world mission training in a UK university setting. The practical aspect of the training is to get alongside and support Christian Union members at the university. A minimum of another 12 months is spent working with students abroad, which can be organised through the Stride programme.
